Sure, you will not have any success without knowing yourself. Then you need to assign milestones for your goals, which will lead you to your dream slowly, but will help you not to fail on the way.
It is very important to learn dealing with your inner circle, your circle of influence and every day ''peeps''. This will help you to widen the circle of people you deal with and to make your business grow even faster. Make business plan, don't move without having it. I have read a lot of books on this topic and what I liked in this book is that it lets you move slowly, but having in mind all the steps you really need to do.
